perspectives, and contributions of women in print culture.

This session explores how archival materials reveal womens roles in shaping public
discourse and hidden perspectives within historical publications.

Hear from Dr Azhar Ibrahim and Nur Diyana as they share how they worked with rare
materials from the Malay Heritage Centre Collection and beyond, and what these
sources reveal about womens presence in Malay newspapers and magazines.

This session will be held at the Singapore/Malaysia Collection currently featuring
an exhibition on Perempuan Melayu...Biadab?, a decolonial exploration of colonial
and self-representations of Malay women. The exhibition interrogates colonial
narratives by centering empowering works and images of Malay women.

Collections in Context: Stories from Our Archives is a new series by NUS Libraries
that showcases how our Special Collections and Singapore/Malaysia Collection are
being used by the NUS community. Through real case studies, each session brings
together librarians, students, researchers, and educators to share the materials
they worked with, how they used them in their projects and the insights and
discoveries that emerged. Keep a lookout for the upcoming sharing by postgraduate
students using our rare and special collections!
Venue: Exhibition Space, L5 (near SMC)
Start Date: Wed, 08 Apr 2026 12:00:00 +0800
<venue>Exhibition Space, L5 (near SMC)</venue><eventdate>Wed, 08 Apr 2026 12:00:00 +0800</eventdate>

RU MIni: Researching the Past: Singapore & Southeast Asian Primary Sources

Event Description: Need resources for your Singapore and Southeast Asia research? century, best known for his efforts to modernise Buddhism and make it relevant to a
rapidly changing world.

Commemorating the centenary of Taixus first visit to Singapore in 1926, the
exhibition Taixu in Singapore: A 100-Year Commemoration brings renewed attention to
his enduring influence on the development of Buddhism in Singapore and the wider
region.

This event features two talks that explore the historical and intellectual
significance of the exhibition. Discover how the daily activities of resident monks
shaped the local Buddhist landscape in early Singapore, and learn about Taixus
three visits to Singaporepivotal moments that contributed to the transformation of
Buddhism from temple-centred practices to more organised, socially engaged
institutions.

Together, the exhibition and talks highlight Singapores role as a dynamic site of
Buddhist exchange and institutional formation in the twentieth century, offering
fresh perspectives on modern Chinese Buddhism and its transregional networks across
Asia.

The event also includes a curated tour of the exhibition, along with opportunities
to engage with materials on Taixu and connect with fellow participants over
refreshments.
Venue: Seminar Room, NUS Central Library (Level 4)
Start Date: Thu, 16 Apr 2026 14:00:00 +0800
<venue>Seminar Room, NUS Central Library (Level 4)</venue><eventdate>Thu, 16 Apr 2026 14:00:00 +0800</eventdate>

Facilitating Adult Learners: A Teaching Assistant Workshop

Event Description: "Do I have the experience to teach adult learners?"
"Will they listen to me?"
"Can I prepare myself to teach adult learners?"
These are common questions from Teaching Assistants (TAs) when faced with the
gargantuan task of teaching a class involving adult learners (ALs), and the
occasional elderly with a silver crown of glory. While the answers to the first two
answers are most probably "No", the answer to the third question is a resounding
"Yes".
The Teaching Assistants Programme (TAP) is proud to present a special 2-hour
workshop to help TAs involved with teaching ALs better equip themselves. The
workshop will discuss common andragogical theories and provide case studies for
participating TAs to discuss. By the end of the workshop, participants will:
1. Acquaint with andragogical principles
2. Gain skills in facilitating adult learners
3. Apply knowledge gained in case studies
The workshop will be delivered by Associate Professor Stephen Tay who has been
engaged with teaching ALs, some with grandchildren, for the Sustainable Energy
Association of Singapore (SEAS) and School of Continuing and Lifelong Education
(SCALE) in NUS. He will share personal failures and triumphs in his journey as an
adult educator for participants to learn from. Assoc. Prof. Tay has acquired the WSQ
Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment, the predecessor to WSQ Advanced
Certificate in Learning and Performance 2.0 (ACLP 2.0), which is required by
trainers involved in AL.
Venue: Evans Room, Ventus (8 Kent Ridge Drive S119246)
Start Date: Thu, 23 Apr 2026 09:00:00 +0800
<venue>Evans Room, Ventus (8 Kent Ridge Drive S119246)</venue><eventdate>Thu, 23 Apr 2026 09:00:00 +0800</eventdate>

CPR + AED Familiarisation Programme

Event Description: The Main objective of this CPR + AED Familiarization Programme is to
